Kimora's New Sweet Smell of Success

When Kimora Lee Simmons became Creative Director of Baby Phat and introduced the name on t-shirts at a Phat Farm show in 1999, who would have guessed that the then-aspiring mogul would take the first women's urban brand to the next level by creating an empire that encompasses almost everything for the metropolitan chick's lifestyle?

Almost a decade later Simmons is set to release her third fragrance (yes third, you heard me) Fabulosity to stores nationwide this week. After the success of Goddess and her second, Golden Goddess it should come as no surprise. She celebrated its impending arrival recently with a party in NYC that was attend by beauty insiders and Victoria 's Secret model Selita Ebanks.

The bottle's design indicates that Kimora wants to bring you into her world of luxury and fabulousness. "Fabulosity is a state of everything that is fabulous," says Simmons, hence the name, scent and design.

The scent is a fruity Oriental with a top note that includes plum, orange blossom and forbidden fruit, a "heart" with coconut milk and purple violet and a dry down with honey and vanilla. She clearly let her imagination run wild by creating a diamond-shaped bottle that if were the real thing would be the equivalent of over 3,000 carats! That kind of rock surely would have been a part of Elizabeth Taylor's personal jewelry collection.

There are even Swarovski crystal accents on the perfume's box to up the bling factor. With an ad campaign featuring her shot by legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh, Simmons made sure every aspect of this launch was how she likes her diamonds: unflawed.

Fabulosity was produced by Coty, the world's largest fragrance company that creates scents for major fashion brands including Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang and Calvin Klein and celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, David Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, the Olsen twins and in Spring 2009 for Halle Berry. That's right; the sexy new mom/actress recently announced that she will be joining another aspect of the beauty world by launching her own signature scent too. Because Berry is use to mixing her own scents at home, she stated that she's "excited to be working hands on to creating scent that's a true representation (of her.)"
