In a fashionable galaxy, far far away lives a group of fresh kids who are able to rock the dope hip hop styles of the 1980's into 2008s fashion temperament. Trendsetters such as Teyana Taylor, The Retro Kidz and Tokyo Diiva and The Juice Krew are serving us with dookie gold ropes, Gucci links, high top fades, staked mushrooms, acid wash jeans, British Knights, Mickey Mouse sweatshirts, fat laces, Nefertiti emblems, Africa medallions and a full spectrum of neon color. Individual creative style rules in 80s hip hop fashion so it is now inspiring to see these iconic styles back in 3-D.

Jedi fashionista, Tokyo Diiva answers a few of our style questions to get to the heart of 80's style done now,
What inspires your style?
My style is a little bit of everything. The past influences me by being retro and rocking things such as dookie rope chains, 4 finger rings, door knockers, acid washed/colored skinny jeans, wind breakers and so on. The present influences me by always looking at whats the trend and going the complete opposite way and making a 360, because I don't like to fit in. This is how every youth wants to dress. I always try to think ahead and start trends and then when people catch on I switch it up again! I get tons of my fashion style from characters I love. I would rock a captain hat, Star Trek inspired glasses, Barbie with the bright pink lipstick; I'm just a whole world of fashion stuffed into one little body!
Why do you have a certain affinity for 1980s hip hop style?
I'm not completely 80s. I just love a couple items and trends from that era. I don't want to be put in a category of being 80s. The 80s in my opinion was the most free-styled and most fashionable. I like the pin curls from the 60s and maybe the whole Moulin Rouge thing from the 20s I just take a bit of everything and do my thing. I don't like the 70s I'm not walking around rocking a Afro or string around my forehead!! The hippie thing is not really my thing!
It's unique because I dare what a lot of people fear. I don't care if people stare or don't get it. I'm shameless and I'm in my own world I don't dress to please people.I dress to please myself.
Who are your style icons?
I don't have a style icon really. I respect the fashion style of people such as Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Micheal Jackson, M.I.A., Kanye West, and Barbie. . . .yes the doll!!!
What is your favorite beauty item?
Pink lipstick!
What do you have on today?
Today I have on a pair of neon green skinny jeans, a gold metallic belt, gold Sequence Fanny Pack, white pink lime Green Nike vandals, blue red purple and grey windbreaker jacket with hoodie, wife beater, 3 rope chains - different sizes, doorknockers earings, 4 finger ring, Japanese pimp watch, tons of bracelets, baby doll pink lipstick, gold glitter on my eyes and my UV sunglasses!!! Dope TOK'N!
What is your favorite fashion item?
NOOOOOO that's sooo hard!!! I'm going to cheat!!!! Well, in order to leave my house i have to have my jewelery and gold sequence Fanny Pack!!! OoOoOWWeeE!
The Eighties Boyee!

~Nothing against the artists of "TODAY" that actually have talent, but the 80's were the bomb. Just like we criticized our parents for the clothes they wore back in the day and the outfits that we thought made them look silly. Then the things we wore in the 80's, our children think we looked silly, think about what their trends are "NOW". Showing all of their behind or underwear in pants 3 x the size than you should be wearing, hairstyles either all over your head:Example half your head braided and the rest all over. It is just a disgrace "NOW". So, if some people wanna bring back some of the colorful trend in clothes and shoes, then so be it. I am all for it.
