Upon the release of his smash album, The Big Bang, Busta Rhymes hacked off the locks we grew to love. Rapper turned actor, Ludacris trimmed off his braids too. Even Law & Order: SVU star, ICE-T nipped off his pony tail recently.
So I decided to cut my hair too.
Since December of '06, I had been letting my hair grow and grow. Sprouting into a coiled, mini fro it became my trademark. So much so that we even developed a logo with a man who had an afro.
As the hair got longer and longer, so did the maintenance responsibility. So thick the hair became, I had to wash it if I wanted to comb it. Then after I finished combing and picking it, if you looked on the floor, you would think it snowed curls. Not to mention the constant battle I used to have with lint balls and the fact that it took forever to dry.
Weary from the strenuous undertaking, fed up with the post-hairpick cleaning of the bathroom floor and just plain old sick and tired, I crossed back over and chopped off my afro.
The response was comparable to when a woman gets a boob job. The attention I received from women increased not to mention people told me I looked younger. In business, people took me a little bit more serious. When I wore my suits, my appearance looked cleaner and more professional. I felt well-groomed.
Now I rock my hair in a low-cut Caesar. Getting it cut and shaped-up once or twice a week, I brush it, moisturize it with Soft Sheen-Carson's Sportin' Style by Sportin' Waves and go. Sometimes I put on a stocking cap at night to train my waves but all and all I don't do half of what I used to do.
Check out the pictures of me on Great Day Houston before I cut my hair and check out the picture of me doing a fashion segment on Good Day Detroit after I cut my hair. Which do you prefer?

I myself have a LoFro from the 60-70"s.
I have no problem caring for it, I use olive oil in it to the scalp.
My daughter makes a realy greeat hair product from natural oils and ingrediants for a conditioner, I use once a week,
I pick it, then comb it and my goatee/beard for the correct look and since I'm over 50 it has a saltpepper look to it, some females say it looks good and shows wisdom.
The only problem I have is comments from balding younger fellows. amd vain females who are dying their hair.

Locks do look nice if they are kepted up. My man, son, two nephews,& two nieces has locks. I prefer a bald look if the head is shaped right, and I like a low cut. What ever style a man sports, I hope he keep the look in perspective ( nice and clean) Love them black men do your thing.

I used to have locks. I cut them off and my hairline was totally different. The locks spread my hair out so it looked wierd. I had to wear a bald til my hair got used to being short.
I dont know if i wish i never had locks or if i wish i never cut them.

I want to know, why did they throw in "High Top Fade" above where you take the votes? Who in the Hell wears that nowadays? I was surprised when I seen 8% preferred that on a man. Anyway, I like a man with a clean shaven head like my man (LL COOL J, TIKKI BARBER, and there are a couple more I didn't mention). Look, not all men can wear a bald head. His head shape is very important. Also, if he has a bald head, he can't be havin no Spock looking ears like, (Deon Sanders)! I love too, a man with waves in his hair, but not too many. I do love men with dreads but, his hair has to be shorter than mine. I don't like competition. A man with dreads, should keep his dreads well-maintained!
Now, there should be a blog about,
"What type of hair do you prefer on a women"?
A) Natural Hair Sista
B) Bald Head Sista
C) Clip-on Yaki Straight Ponytail
D) Perm Straight or Yaki (Long or short) Weave
E) Dreads (Maintained)
F) Synthetic Braids from the Dollar Store
6) Wig
Fellas, now come on let's be honest, what would you prefer on your women? Or fellas, do you like ALL OF THE ABOVE on a women. Do you like a woman that is VERSATILE?

To Chris #2, I'm not a dude but umh, you can use some "Sporti'n Wave" to get those waves rollin in your hair. I use it for my edges and it gets the job done. Oh, and throw a silk cap over it.
