When President-elect Barack Obama spoke of the country's need for change he wasn't referring to just the economy . The GQ, Men's Vogue and Ebony poster king duly noted that when it comes to those wearing baggy pants with their underwear exposed, he just ain't feeling it. In one of his pre-election win interviews with MTV, Obama answered questions submitted by viewers emailed through Facebook.
One asked how he felt about the attempted (and successful) ban on baggy pants. Several cities in Michigan, Florida, Georgia and even a suburb in Chicago (Barack's hometown) have already passed a "Baggy Pants Bill" where an arrest for overexposure of your underwear can have you serve jail time, do community service and/or be fined as much as $500 (see chart.)
Obama's comment: "Here is my attitude: I think people passing a law against people wearing sagging pants is a waste of time. We should be focused on creating jobs, improving our schools, health care, dealing with the war in Iraq , and anybody, any public official, that is worrying about sagging pants probably needs to spend some time focusing on real problems out there. Having said that, brothers should pull up their pants. You are walking by your mother, your grandmother, your underwear is showing. What's wrong with that? Come on. There are some issues that we face, that you don't have to pass a law, but that doesn't mean folks can't have some sense and some respect for other people and, you know, some people might not want to see your underwear -- I'm one of them."
The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!
Lil Wayne's exposed underwear look could warrent arrest in some states

A word of caution to rappers and fans rocking the style like Bow Wow, Soulja Boy and Lil' Wayne. If you're thinking of attending one of the Inauguration balls in Washington DC next January, take Jay-Z's advice and "button-up dude." Although Obama made it clear that it's not on his list of top priorities in office, if you're looking to impress him, step it up -- rather pull 'em up -- dude.

Why would a man free on he street want to look like he is in prison? Maybe because he is in his mind.

This fad was actually started by poor folk in jail.....the drill: take off the belt and jewelry, walk to a cell wearing hand me down pants that are too big and you got yourself a pair of droopy drawers. This is what they are emulating. Have some dignity people. Pull up your damn pants.

Personallly I think it's a time nad place thing. If I'm with my friend relaxing then what I wear shouldn't matter. I do sag my pants but only to the first picture where the band is showing. I think serving jail for this is to much. I know when to sag and where not to. For a job interview my pants won't sag. It's all time and place. Also It's about expression. If "saggin" is banned then ripped jeans and skinny jeans need to go as well.

There's no place or time for somebody to be showing their underware. I think well I know it is tackey and disrespectful. Martin Luther King, died for the freedom of the African American's, and I know he would be turning over in his grave to see the way that the young people are living today. Regardless of what you think it is parents need to instill in their young son's this is not the way that they should present themselves. Another issue is the Tatto's I know it's a different topic but all of these so call fashions are not respectful, and needs to be addressed especailly with the women, they draw on their bodies especially African American women and it is not becoming at all. We need to get back to the good old day's when people carried themselves in a respectful way. And the issues should not be about if you are white or black, it should be of respecting yourselves and raising your children to be good and God fearing people of this world. We dig are own graves and determined our own futures. But when we do the things that are not exceptable of the laws of the land, then we want to blame the situation on Government and it is not so. Start to respect ourselves, and then Government will do the same. We have no one else to blame but our own ignorance, and that is so. It is evident that some of us don't know ourselves so there fore we have to do all these crazy things to show who we are, but we are not it is what we want to be. And in being ourselves we need to carry ourselves in a way so that we can earn the respect that is rightfully owned, given to us by the one and only Creator of us all. Love JJ
