The youthful line boasts lounge wear like yoga pants, sweats, and hoodies, which are often printed with names of colleges and universities. If certain future, current, or former HBCU students were feeling left out every time they perused Pink's collegiate offerings, they won't anymore.
The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!

I work for Victoria's Secret and didn't know we had any HBCU's in the collegiate line. I can't wait to share this with my co-workers as well as customers who I'm sure will be just as exited as I am :)

A few months ago when I heard that PINK was going to add HBCUs to their collection I was estatic. As a recent HBCU grad, I know how much black women love PINK. However, when I just went to the site I noticed that the illustrious Hampton University (and some other schools) was missing. What's up with that? Based on the original selection, Hampton, Howard, NC A&T and Spelman were supposed to be the first HBCUs to be added. I'd like to know what happened.

I love the Pink Line. A friend of mine told me that a Kappa is the founder of that line. Can anyone confirm this? Also, they need to add Prairie View to their line, every HBCU thats in the SWAC needs to be added! Just my opinion.

I am very happy to see that Victoria's Secret has finally included HBCUs in their Pink Collegiate Collection. I also wonder how they chose some of the schools represented and what happened to the other popular HBCUs. Schools like Hampton, Dillard, Fisk, Spelman, Xavier and Tuskegee (No disrepect to other HBCUs). Being a graduate of a HBCU, I believe the Black Ivy League should have been among the first to be featured. To answer the question of the previous blogger, I'm not sure if the creator is a Kappa, but I believe he graduated from FAMU.

I agree with nursebutta. I think ALL HBCU'S should be added under one condition. Being a former retailer, I would do a sample run for sales purposes only. I would only carry only those schools (also depending on the state) that brings profit to the table. Stores nationwade would be burden with EXTREME OVERHEAD if they carry every school, especially if the C/U is not in that particular state. Just my opinion!!!

Great idea for Victoria Secret to have a HBCU line of clothing however I agree with blogger #5. How were they chosen and how come others were not added like Tuskegee, Spelman etc. Hoping to see more of a variety in the future.

I think the idea of incorporating HBCUs into the Pink collegiate line is fantastic. It's about time that HBCUs and, the african-american population at large, recieves just acknowlegement in this United States. However, it wouldnt be profitable for all Victoria Secret national retail stores to carry every HBCU in there collection bc HBCUs vary from state to state. Maybe VS stores should market HBCUs in their particular homestate rather than those abroad.

I think that this was creative of VS but this is something that they should've thought harder about. Look at the comments what happened to Spelman and Morehouse, etc, etc, etc. Now, everyone will be looking for their colleges. What's going to happen is that the Greek Letter Organizations will be looking for this as well. Well, maybe VS will be able to hire more workers something this economy needs.
