The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!

Tyra is in desperate need of a stylist who understands where she is at this exact moment in her life. For someone who has garnered so many accolades, fame and fortune as a cat walking fashionista, Tyra’s Red Carpet choices are always questionable. She was the laughing stock of Hollywood and Seventh Avenue when she sashayed down the red carpet, sporting that over-the-top, purple Little Bo Peep number, and that rumpled bronze haute couture gown was horrendous! It is simply incredulous that someone so deeply steeped in the fashion world would make so many horrible style choices. The tons of pancake make-up and pounds of fake hair certainly do not help. There is an attractive woman hiding beneath the mounds of weaves, wigs and cosmetics: an attractive woman dying to be unearthed – revealed to the world.
And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse – Tyra is showcased on her daytime talk show wearing maxi length dresses with formless silhouettes that exasperates and exaggerates the hugeness of her mammary glands and the grandness of her ample bum. Doesn’t her stylist know that with breasts and a bum that large, Tyra should wear wide belts to emphasize her neat waistline – especially when the dresses are ankle-length?
As someone who has been extremely successful on the business side of fashion, I would love to style Tyra for just two weeks. It’s obvious that her stylist does not understand Tyra’s new body size or proportions – nor does she understand that Tyra is a successful business woman now – not a thin Victoria’s Secret model. She’s at another chapter in her life, and she should dress the part. She is no longer a size 6, and that’s perfectly all right, but she needs to wear clothes that are flattering to the Tyra that she is TODAY. The outfits that she wears – both for day and evening -- are simply not reflective or representative of this star’s luminosity. It’s time for Tyra to take the NEXT STEP up into fashion that is chic, fun and classic

Although I agree that Tyra's stylist should consider where Tyra is in her career when h/she dresses her, I also think that they are (perhaps TOO) slowly trying to "find" Corporate/Talk Show Host Tyra's style.
I DEFINITELY disagree about the bronze gown. I loved the combined and monochoromatic effect of the gown and her hair color, and loved the dress, as well. When you say she was a "laughing stock," could you be more specific about WHO was doing the laughing? My designer/makeup artist friends in the US adore Tyra AND (most of) her "looks."

I only saw Tyra on her "model" showing her natural hair and she was beautiful. I'd like to se her with more natural hair. I was glad when she stop wearing her hair with the bang covering her forehead and hanging straight and limp. It looked like a helmet. We will always know Tyra as the "super model, Tyra Banks", that'll never change. I love to see her that way on her talk show. It is so true her styles are not figure flattering and she needs more flowing garmets. I am a Sagittarius, too and I know we must stay at a certain weight for our figures to be drop dead gorgeous. Very feminine, voluptious cuves. Tyra still looks great and knows how to project a beauty and a congenial personality. She has drive and achieves her goals. However, she seems to be lacking in the intimate relationship area. I guess no one is perfect. Keep doing yout "thang" Tyra, we love you girl.

Hmm. . . has anyone watched the tyra banks show? Or atleast Americas Next Top Model? Then you'd know that Tyra has the best fashion sense and taste that anybody has every seen. She's not a regular on the red carpet and those pictures aren't recent. Just do some research befor you say anything and get people like me mighty mad.

It's okay Tyra. Wear what ever you want this Valentine's Day. I will be happy to accomodate your style and then take it all off.
