People magazine will feature stylish First Lady Michelle Obama on the cover of the next issue, which comes out Friday. While the mag is sure to fly off newsstands, something else is likely to fly out of stores as well: the lovely pink dress she is wearing by Tracy Reese.
Lady O's style inspires many in the fashion industry, so we applaud her for using the opportunity to support Reese by wearing the designer's Guipure Lace Kimono Dress in a pretty shade dubbed dried Azalea. With her new updo, the cut, color and fabrication certainly convinces us that she is right on trend for a first lady.

The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!
Hopefully, this will help squash the beef started last month by the Black Artists Association after Mrs. Obama chose a gown by Asian American designer Jason Wu for the inaugural balls. BAA co-founder Amnau Eele caused a major ruckus when she said Obama could have worn dresses by black designers such as Kevan Hall, b michael or Stephen Burrows instead. Never mind the fact that she wore looks by designers of color, period. Given the first lady's continuous support of emerging designers, did Eele really think Lady O would never wear clothing from black designers?
Whatever. We suggest you snag the fabulous frock before it sells out like the J.Crew items she wore on Jay Leno and the floral dress by White House/Black Market on 'The View.' When it comes to gear worn by the first lady, demand is greater than supply, so go get yours now.
The Tracy Reese Guipure Lace Kimono Dress in dried Azalea retails for $395 and is available at Tracy Reese boutique in New York City, 641 Hudson Street, or at www.tracyreese.com
Are you impressed that First Lady Michelle Obama wore a black designer on the cover? Does it matter?

I think that the Tracy Reese design that the first lady is wearing is gorgeous. I love the color as well.
I think that First Lady Obama has style and grace, and if she chooses to go sleevless it's her perogitive. I think that she will go down in history for far more important things than what she wears!!!

Speaking of First Lady Michelle Obama:
Michelle Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in her heart and mind she inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.
George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).
George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.
And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.
Many people know what Bush did.
And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.
Bush was absolute evil.
Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.
Bush is a psychological prisoner.
Bush has a lot to worry about.
Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.
In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
