And if you thought the beauty market wasn't oversaturated with enough celebrity scents, think again. Two more rap stars have jumped on the bandwagon--both Nelly and Akon will offer fragrances this fall. Apple Bottoms by Nelly Eau de Parfum is set to debut for his female fans while Akon is hard at work on putting out two for men, Konvict (named after his 2006 album "Konvicted") and Aliaune, derived from his given birth name.
Nelly's signature scent is "designer to be the perfect compliment to the lifestyle of the Apple Bottoms woman." There will also be body products including body wash and lotion. Speaking of fast cash, Sears will no longer carry the LL Cool J for Sears Collection. After pumping millions into the launch with TV commercials and print ads featuring the hood-meets-Hollywood rapper with his wife and their children, failure to meet sales expectations led to the drastic move by the retail chain according to woohah.com. When we checked, $60 men's hoodies were on sale for $9.99 and the young men's hoodie for $4.99! We say snag an item now and add it to your collection of other defunct clothing lines by rappers like Eve and Snoop Dogg.

That was nice what NERD, Cyndi, Estelle and others did. That's wonderful to give to a worth cause and educate people on HIV/AIDS. But as far as Nelly with his fragrance, we will have to see the final product whether it passes's the test? The pic I am lookin at is so DISRESPECTFUL! How come Ashanti is not featured? You don't have be half-naked to sale your merchandise. The same thing goes for Akon. I hope the two advertise and market their products with RESPECT to the consumers. WOW, LL Cool J'S line is gone? I never purchased any of his clothing but from what I heard, the prices where affordable and fashionable. Well, whatever he does next will be a SUCCESS! He is so respectful in EVERYTHING that he does! That's one fine lookin brotha and he's DOIN IT, AND DOIN IT, AND DOING IT WELL!!!!!! :-)

FYI- Both LL's rep and the reps for Sears have come out to say that they will not be stopping his clothing label, and in fact they are currently in production on a back-to-school line for the label.

Sonya Maggett should write more about hip hop fashion - there is a cool indie sneaker co. named TAGUR for example. The cool sneaks are even featured at a show in the background of Marky's video, Oh Sheila. Just a thought for all the sneaker heads out there...
