Mariah Carey may have bombed in the past with questionable style choices, but she surely made up for it when she attended the Cannes Film Festival in France last weekend in a stunning black Dolce & Gabbana gown that was quite eye-pleasing and befitting for the classy atmosphere. Carey, with much younger stud-hubby Nick Cannon in tow, of course, was there to promote the Lee Daniels-directed film 'Precious' alongside co-stars Paula Patton, lead star Gabourey Sidibe and rocker Lenny Kravitz. Markedly absent was comedian M'onique, who is also in the film.Patton wowed in a red Andrew Gn gown and Kravitz brought major rock-star attitude swagged out in all black with a sharkskin suit and skinny tie. Kravitz was also quite the gentleman--in a Fonzworth-Bentley move he held the umbrella for Carey to protect her from the rain and ensure that she was paparazzi ready (And we thought that's what Cannon was there for!). Carey stunned again later that night in a gold-flecked gown by Roberto Cavalli at a party the Italian designer held on his yacht.

'Precious' is slated to hit theaters in November and has garnered major buzz in the film industry. Executive-produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, it has already won three awards at the Sundance Film Festival. Carey shed the glitz and glam ('a la Halle Berry for Daniels'-produced 'Monster's Ball,' for which she won an Academy Award), gained weight and even donned a slight mustache to play a social worker to Sidibe's character, Precious.
We toast Carey for stepping in the right direction style and career-wise.

Yes, I think that Miarah Carey's dresses's is a step in the right direction. She has toned down her look. Miriah is looking more mature and elegant now these days. I liked the black dress but didn't care too much for the gold & silver dress. Miriah looks nice even if she gained some of her weight back from before. She is dressing appropriate for her age and is more beautiful than ever.

Mrs Cannon is so beautiful and i wish her and Nick the best, i saw a clip of the movies and it is great, everyone did a great job, keep up the good work Mariah. The dresses are beautiful. She is still a beautiful woman.

This movie will win many awards.It is up to us a people to support it from day 1.Tyler Perry and Oprah has done so much for us.When hollywood said no they said YES.It is a new day for us,all the way to the white house.It is our season.

mariah looks absolutely lovely in the black d&g gown, but i'm not too sure about the cavalli. a bit too "disco"...not a good look at a swanky film festival like cannes. kravitz looks delicious as always...he'd make burlap look good! and paula patton...her & her perfect dna make me sick! :) she can't look bad if she tried! gabourey sidibe even looks oscar-ready in her gown! stunners, all of them! but what's up with lee daniels all hugged-up around paula like that? i don't think robin thicke appreciated that gesture too much! :)
