Politicians and their wives rarely get caught up in PETA squabbles. That's usually reserved for the Aretha Franklins and Lindsay Lohans of the world, but France's first lady, Carla Bruni, recently drew attention from the intimidating animal right's organization for supposedly wearing fur. She maintains that she never buys or wears the real thing, but the incident begs the question: How does her fellow first lady (and partner in fashion) Michelle Obama feel about fur?"We've never written to Michelle Obama about this issue because we have always known her to be fur free," Amanda Schinke, media campaigns coordinator for PETA, told the Washington Times. Mrs. O's spokesperson said the same.
Check out other famous folks who oppose fur -- and celebs who can't live without it.

As long as the fur trade is 'humane', it seems no different than raising cows/sheep/pigs, etc., for meat. Perhaps the reason for 'inhumane' practices of furriering is BECAUSE it is illegal - just like any other practice that is 'illegal' - problems will and do occur!

I'm always astonished by how violent so-called "evolved, caring, compassionate, animal-lovers" can be in their attitudes towards those who don't agree with them, and how much of their passion is expended on a "cause" which was apparently fueled by animated Disney features like "Bambi" and "101 Dalmations" aimed at children. Paul McCartney admitted that his animal "rights" passion was fueled by the former film. I love fur. I love wearing it. It's a non-issue, as far as I'm concerned, about who does or does not wear fur. My objection is to those who want to impose their anti-fur views on others in an attempt to control and order their lives. In this respect they're like missionaries from some annoying cult.
