Naturally, I should be happy about this. The King of Pop was an icon, not just for his songs, but for his style. He elevated the sequined glove, the leather jacket, the white sock into pieces as iconic as his songs. Now for what makes me cringe: the man behind the Ed Hardy clothing empire, Christian Audigier sees that too. That's likely why he and Michael Jackson began discussing an MJ clothing line before the performer passed unexpectedly. Now, Audigier is trying to go forward with the plans by releasing details of the project. During a recent appearance on the Today show he mentioned that sketches for the collection are already done, with samples produced and many items priced.
Now all that remains is a decision on when they can debut in stores. With all the litigation over Jackson's estate, that might be a longer process than imagined.
