The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!

That's it right there! Wear this at the WH lawn chasing Bo, & you look Fab! On to Air Force one BAD IDEA!
They should treat air Force with reverence. I know it's hot, but put something decent when you are flying, along with the kids & ditch the outfit as soon I you get there!
Hell I dress up to get on South West airline! lol!
Unlike Michele, there are no cameras waiting for me, to blast my photos world wide!!!!
Put some effort, it's your duty!

I doubt if you've ever been to Arizona because right now it is very hot. What the first lady and mind you I said the first lady Mrs. Obama is wearing is A OK. Why should she wear anything else going to the grand canyon in this day and age she fits right in with the way people dress in Arizona and the shorts are not to short either. I believe people like you will have a problem and complain about everything and anything Mrs. Obama does and I wonder why. Take the rose colored glasses off Kay you'll see that the first lady has a real tan and its beautiful. Arizona is hot right now and I myself am glad to see Ms. O acting like a normal person and dressing that way.

There's nothing wrong with those shorts. She's casual, dress down. You're on vacation, why do you have to dress up all the time? Maybe she felt like being comfortable with her family. Find something else to dwell on instead of worrying about what kind of shorts a person wear. Just because you chose to dress up, doesn't mean everyone else wants to do the same. Cameras are on her and the girls 24/7, so no matter what she does (or wears), there's always someone that's not going to be happy. Get a life.

Kay,
Even though the first lady Mrs. Obama does represent our country and you feel there is a role and example she should be setting I don't know about you, but I didn't know that being president or the first lady was a show or a acting role something this country doesn't need. That's the problem with this country to many actors and role playing presidents that have come before the Obama's have gotten our country in the mess were in with opinions like yours and your mind set. People want real people running their country and the Obama's are as real as you can get. Get use to it sweety and stop hating. Mrs. Obama looked just fine in her outfit. I guess you haven't seen the type of dress code in Arizona, honey they are laid back trust me I kid you not. If Ms. Obama was wearing a cowboy hat with her outfit would you have been happier. Have a great day Kay and stop hating on the world. Also Sept. 8th on Tyra Banks
Show she is declaring woman all over the U.S. to go natural to shed there fake locks and go natural. I guess you haven't noticed but the first lady Mrs. Obama is wearing her all natural hair but if she goes AFRO for that day don't trip and have a heart attack OK kay. (Smile) For the real people.

Kay, since when do the Airforce One (a plane) cares about what someone wears. What do you call daisy dukes we call that capris if you see my daisy dukes (53yrs old) what would you call that. Please stop hating leave my First Lady alone. She is a sexy mama no matter what she wears. Do you want her to go to the Grand Canyon in high heels shoes and a evening gown, get a life Kay. My first lady is just natural as they come, just being her, and not a hypocrite like the others.

KAY, You have my sincere sympathy. Before you decided to vote for the presidency, someone should have informed you that it is in NO WAY your place to even begin to comment on the attire of any political figure. Your individual intellectual level should've directed you to the BIBLE...
JUDGE NOT LEST YOU BE JUDGED!!! The 1st Lady of The U.S.A. does not need anyones approval nor their judgement of her attire unless that is what she pays them to do!!! BESIDES... SHE'S ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES A LADY, AND I LOVE HER AS WELL AS AND WHAT SHE REPRESENTS.

She was dressed appropriately for what she was doing at that particular time. Since when are shorts on the no list? It was not a black tie event. It was vacation. And who made up your rules about what she should wear? Dress up to fly? So passe. I fly all the time for leisure on South West and other's and I am sure that if you are in the terminal the same time that I am , I will be able to spot you a mile away because you will be dressed to fly! lol!

Kay....Get over yourself already... it is what it is... she has the legs... you obviously don't or you wouldn't have so many 'issues' with this. SHE IS ON VACATION!!!!
She IS a role model... Princeton AND Harvard educated, geniune article... BLACK WOMAN, whose husband just happens to be the president. But before his presidency bid, she was on various boards and generated her own figure income without having to show her a**, or use her back for money. She IS a role model, whether you like it or not is your hang up. There are more pressing issues in this world than the FIRST LADY's shorts. She has more class, and style than all the former first ladies combined. She is more than just the president's wife, or Sasha and Malia's mother... she is and always will be Michelle Obama!!! Deal with that... and "stop hatin' ". My legs are huge, so I don't wear shorts, I wear capris... but if I had Michelle's legs, everytime you see me at a casual gathering I would be wearing shorts!!

You sound so jealous. Join a gym and get your act together and maybe you too can feel comfortable in your own skin. You are so tunneled visioned in your own little "DRESSED UP WORLD". You really need to relax and live and let live. Are all of your opinions this uptight? Good lord lady, what would Jesus do? He would tell you to Back off and take a really good look at your own intolerant view points and try to live in this world with other people. She is our First Lady, You need to Learn SOME RESPECT! See ya at the airport!
