It confounds me to no end that in these harsh economic times not only are folks buying Beyonce's line, House of Dereon, but that they are buying it to the point that its actually making profit -- and a lot of it. At least that's what it seems like in light of the latest news: House of Dereon is expanding. The contemporary juniors line is adding yet another category to its roster: day wear.dereon
By way of explanation, Tina Knowles told fashion newspaper, Women's Wear Daily: "Beyonce and I have had several occasions where we are in meetings all day and don't have time to run and change by dinner. This is the perfect collection to wear from the office to dinner because every piece can easily be dressed up or dressed down."
All these daytime fashions won't come cheap. They will debut in stores at end of the year and are estimated to range in price between $100 and $200 per piece. Now again, who is buying?

I am not a big fan of HOD, the pieces are too busy, too many trinkets and sh-- all over them. Beyonce and her mom need to be ashame of themselves for trying to peddle that stuff so expensive in this recession. They need to go back to the drawing board and invent something less flashy and not so expensive, believe me because in these times they are the only ones with the money.

I picked up a t-shirt on a sale rack one time, and thought it was hot, but didn't know it was HOD until I looked on the back, I only paid like $9 for it had been marked down like three times, I wouldn't pay anymore for it.

I like Dereon as well, but I don't buy the line out of the major department stores. I usually get them from Marhalls or TJ Maxx. The stuff I see in the regular departments stores seem a little over priced for me. Thats why I love the fact that I found this site where I got a Free $500 Gift card to shop Dereon online. I have a problem with all the Urban clothing lines for women, HOD, Baby Phat etc.
The cheapest materials and no sophistication at all, its like they think all women of color want to look like $5 street walkers. It just screams hood-rat.

I'm not a big fan either, but that's why there are several designers to choose from. I am a fan of a purse I saw not too long ago. I understand it is about 4 years old, its brown leather with slits. If anyone knows how to get some of the earlier handbags from HOD, please let me know.

What style of tacky fashion reporting is this. The audacity to say 'who is buying Beyonces house of dereon'?
Regardless to economic set backs the world is faced with I've never heard a fashion editor say who's buying Anne Taylor or who's buying Balenciaga.
Shouldn't someone whom see's themself as a fashion reporter (or what have you) be remotely familiar not only with the line she/he is reporting on but it's target consumer as well. Obviously it's the house of derons target audience. A very dis-tasteful article to say the least!
