The blogosphere is buzzing about 'The September Issue,' the behind-the-scenes documentary on Vogue's legendary annual issue. What's the big deal with September? Well, it is traditionally the largest issue for any magazine, including Vogue. For the past several decades, it is the issue that attracts the most advertising dollars, and publications have the means and resources to be as lavish and innovative in their creative content as they like.
The September 2007 issue of Vogue, the making of which this film documents, was one of its largest issues to date. It weighed in at four pounds, verged on 1,000 pages and featured a then up-and-coming new starlet: Sienna Miller. From fashion shoots to editorial meetings, the viewer gets a look into life at Vogue. It's also a rare chance to see one of fashions most mysterious and mythic personalities: Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue. From meeting with designers to spending quality time with her daughter, the film captures the many sides of this fashion icon. Wintour's right hand woman and man, Grace Coddington and Andre Leon Talley, as well as a bevy of fabulous fashion designers, are also along for the ride.
The film debuts in New York City on Friday, August 28th and nationwide on September 11th.
