Of course not -- but it's always good to see women who don't fit into Hollywood's stringent (and often dangerous) beauty ideal thriving in show business. Check out some of the celebrity world's hot and heavy stars who are working hard and looking good while doing it!
Supermodels Then & Now
Before Naomi there was Naomi Sims who entered the fashion world in 1967. With her brown skin, gorgeous face and memorable walk, Sims quickly rose the ranks, appearing on the cover of Life magazine in 1969. She's often referred to as the first black supermodel.

Although she had the potential for a long career, Sims gave up modeling to start her own wig business at the age of 24. Since then, Sims has written several books about beauty, modeling and success and launched her own cosmetics line, the Naomi Sims Collection. She died of cancer at the age of 61 in 2009.

In 1986, Kimora Lee Perkins's mother enrolled her uncommonly tall 11-year-old in modeling classes to boost her self-esteem. Just two years later, the girl we now know as Kimora Lee Simmons signed an exclusive modeling contract with Chanel in Paris becoming Karl Lagerfeld's muse by the age of 13.

After marrying hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, Kimora got out of modeling and into the design business, taking over as head of Baby Phat. Divorced from Simmons, with whom she has two daughters, Kimora now runs Baby Phat and the KLS collection, in addition to starring in a reality show and writing books. She recently had a baby boy with Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou.

Veronica Webb was just a 20-year-old design student when she was "discovered" on the streets of New York City in 1985. The Detroit-native soon became a fixture in magazines and on the runway, making history by becoming the first African American model to sign an exclusive cosmetics contract (Revlon).

Officially retired from the runway, Webb has seamlessly transitioned from fashion to the worlds of television, movies and book publishing. Most recently, Webb co-hosted the first season of Bravo's 'Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.' She lives in the Florida Keys with her husband and two daughters.

Beverly Johnson, a champion-swimmer-turned-supermodel, is said to have graced more than 500 magazine covers in her long and storied career. The most famous cover of all? Her history-making 1974 Vogue cover. She was the first black woman to grace the cover of the American version of the magazine. She has said that by the age of 23, she was making more than $100,000 a year modeling.

Beverly Johnson, now a youthful fifty-something, has completely conquered the hair biz with her extremely successful wig line. She's also the co-host of TV Land's 'She's Got the Look,' a modeling competition show for women 40 and older.

While there is a laundry list of supermodels who have ruled the scene since the '60s, there are only a handful of male models -- of any race -- who can actually claim "super" status. Tyson Beckford is one of them. In 1991, at the age of 21, the New York-native got his modeling break when an editor from The Source spotted the looker at a NYC park. From there, Beckford went on to be the spokesmodel for Ralph Lauren Polo. The rest is history...

No longer a mainstay in magazines or on the runway, Tyson is staying relevant in the fashion world through his hosting gig on Bravo's 'Make Me A Supermodel.'

That depends upon what one would consider as taking over because for me i would preferan evenly proportioned woman over plus-sized everytime.

Now those are some very beautiful women. Curves not bones are sexy. Voluptious is in!! Always has been. I am so sick of seeing these skeletons with their bones sticking out and fake plastic boobs and the media saying this is beautiful. YUCK! Every man I have ever met, says he loves my curves, and doesn't want a bone!...lol

I love how fat girls always try to make themselves feel better about their weight by bashing slim chicks. I'm a curvy size 0 and, yes, I agree that many of the women in the slides are very attractive. At the same time I'm secure enough to realize that a plus size woman being considered attractive has nothing to do with my own attractiveness. The key to being comfortable in your own skin is coming to terms with the fact that men can, and are, attracted to both voluptuous women AND bones (as you call us). So for every man who has ever told you he doesn't want a bone I can show you AT LEAST one man who doesn't want a stump (aka big girl)! Thats why they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S Mo'Nique
I knew it would just be a matter of time before she would get her own show.
Plus size or not if you're good your good. It's a shame that some members of society is so judgemental. Size or looks should never keep anybody back in life, they didn't seem to have a problem with Rosie O'Donnell's plus size!

As my slim sister puts it, "How many thin girls do you see getting married compared to 'thick' ones"?!

Adolph Hitler Not Dead But Rising To Power
catherine whitehead
Adolph Hitler Not dead but Rising To Power. just waiting for this great hour. it's here, right now unless we cut this ugly mess, unless we wake up instead of lying there waiting for our heads to take charge our children will never know the beauty of life as you and I have known. Death and Destruction is knocking at our doors. Hitler is rising, rising, rising in our homes, our schools, our church's in our leadership.
Everywhere we turn children are in the news. Blowing each other away, the cops doing it too, no respect of persons unto our children is nothing new. Today's children are found in the history books it seems to me, a rather well-known name from the past Adolph Hitler seeds are yet alive. been hiding, now surfacing it's time to step up, step out and declare his rest is over and done. hidden in the back ground he can no longer do. Society and lawmakers has brought him to life. They'd rather serve him them Jesus Christ. Our children, children of their father the liar, the thieving murder is grooming his own, right here in our homes, on television and movie show, DvD's, games and books. . Hitler's in the making. it's spreading throughout society. Nothing is free, everything has it's fee. Better pick up your books and study your history. everybody is angry everybody in pain. hurting brains, undereducated, over educated studying the wrong things, verses the right things, student killing, in the schools, on campus,or grammar school, high school grounds even busing into the homes of those they want to shoot down. their only ambition in life is recognition, money and good times. Power in the hands of fools, who only went through the schools, thinking that it's cool. Like Hitler the writing is on the walls called graffiti instead of art. especially when the weather is hot. .Our children leaving school with out an education. and those that attend lives are cut short, killing and manning have become a sort of sport. Ccan't get a descent job they are "unqualified" Unwilling to work, living on the streets, in homeless shelter. physically unfit. declared defeated. looking at how easy it is to enter politics, legally, and equally they move on to live with crooks, moving on, becoming preachers, false teachers, Little by little developing speaking skills, rising to power, changing the world is their ambitions.taking over by gang War
just one decision. One wrong decision leading to another, affecting the world. our young people actions are no different then Hitler. thinking petty sins have no consequences, they do what they do, they do not care about themselves how can they care about me and you?. Think about it: daily families are destroyed, children herded into a life of hell. especially thoughts thrown in prisons and jail. caused by one wrong action that lead to another failure of society, history in the making, judges on the bench, more are drunks without common sense,
Beauty may surround us. even attending church.living for ourselves instead of for God, will eventually cause damage as our children go forward with out heart. affecting not only themselves, but everyone else as well. America the great, America the beautiful land of milk and honey... Americans are dying for the desire of money recognition and power, our children like Adolph Hitler is killing, stealing and dying by the hour
True love cannot co-exist with selfishness. It is utterly impossible.
But there is an answer. If you but wanna hear. Jesus. Jesus our only answer Only Jesus can bring meaning and purpose in our lives. Only He can turn our lives into blessings for ourselves and others.
If in doubt about the consequences of your children and your actions, consider Adolph Hitler's life. He had a promising future, but his choices didn't fulfill him. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." It's time we take a good look at where we are at. Children killing children. It's not going to stop, especially when a heart of love is something they don't got.

I watched last night the Monique show for the first time and I didn't care too much for it. To me, it was OVER the TOP. Not knocking girlfriend down but, when she was bigger she was real and her jokes were much funnier. Now, that she lost some of that weight it seems, her attitude and jokes are different. Nothing wrong in feeling good but don't change of who you really are for NOBODY. Monique looks nice but, I miss the ol Monique.

Fat women are not attractive. Make-up and creative tight fitting clothes make them presentable. There are men who can make love to a 95 year old grandmother, that does not mean men in general feel she is attractive. Wash off the make-up and take off the wigs and clothes and tell me you find fat women attractive. Get Real.
