Dunn's appearance on the Teen Vogue cover begs the question: Is it inappropriate for a young, pregnant and unmarried woman to appear on the cover of a major teen magazine? When you consider the highly publicized pregnancy of teen star Jamie Lynn Spears and shows like 'Glee,' 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' and MTV's reality series, '16 and Pregnant,' all of which normalize teenage pregnancy, it seems that it's no longer such a big taboo to be in your teens and pregnant. And, of course, Dunn is older than 18 and technically an adult. What do you think?

No problem since she is a young woman. Technically she is a teen but at the same time she is a young adult. I could see it if she were 13 years old. As long as a female can afford to support her child then whatever age she chooses to have a child is her business. It wouldn't make a difference if she were 13 if she makes enough to afford to take care of a child.
Young people can't look to models or actresses for role models because even though some of them are still teens, they are making a lot of money.
Lastly these teens are getting pregnant at alarming rates these days so they are used to young women being pregnant and unmarried. One more ain't going to hurt.

She is 19 yrs old, she is an adult. She is not a role model, she is a model. Her actions should not have any bearing on what other young girls do. Young girls need to get their guidance from their parents, not from people on magazine covers, in television, or in the music business. Also in response to the comment about people of African decent not looking good in red lipstick - that is a falsehood, just look at the photo, they both look beautiful in red lipstick.

I feel that society is giving the wrong impression to teenage girls. Instead of encouraging young ladies to get their education and hopefully a husband, so that the child has the best possible start it can have in life, we show teenage stars pregnant and single and make the whole thing look easy and fun. What happened to putting off having a baby until you are ready . In todays world the Black Family, where their is a mother and a father living together in matrimony before the patter of little feet is gone. Statistics show that the success rate of single parent children is very low. Many of our single teen mothers are not prepared financially or mentally to handle the most important job in life"Raising A Child." Just maybe the number of black criminals in prison, gangs and using drugs would decrease if our teenagers spent more time worring about their education instead of sex.

Who cares ? what is she can she do. she acts like she is stupid having a child at 19 . Do young women put any thought into what it takes to raise a child. Soon we will hear more and more about people coming down with AIDS as a result of casual sex.

Our society has become one in which 'evil is good and good is evil'. I am not saying that being pregnant is evil, I am saying that the glorification of making stupid mistakes is. It is unfortunate when a young woman allows her sexuality to define who she is. There are too many women who have not developed their intellect and their character....even some of the ones you've posted as 'role models'.
I miss the good old days when a woman was taught to value her virginity and unwed motherhood was a time of quietly moving out of the spotlight.

Why is it even a question. Years ago women had children earlier and people got married earlier. Once again, people putting their preference for everyone else. Somehow it's not right for a young women who is 19 to be employed because she's pregnant, but people who disagree with gay marriage are somehow trying to deny someone their rights. You see, it just depends on what side OF the topic your on. I say more power to her. SHE's a MOM THAT ACTUALLY GOT PREGNANT WHO CAN TAKE CARE OF HER CHILD, WHAT A CONCEPT!

Yes, she should have been on the cover. Come on and get over it. It's a fact of life and no matter how it makes you feel about teens getting pregnant, we have to accept it because its going to happen. I wish teens would take more responsibility in protecting themselves against pregnancy, but they just don't think and this is sad. This girl was already into her career when this happened. Let her be and good luck to you and your baby.

Sadly I loved this cover until I heard this shocking news.Of course I still love seeing two beautiful black girls on a cover of a magazine that typically features white teenagers.
Still it sadly begs the question.
Does it cheapen the success knowing that for that we got a young unmarried teenage mother on the cover? Yes a successful one but a stereotype none the less (sadly even worse for her being successful, there's always the perception and prejudice that despite successes and accomplishments when the time comes we'll all be pregnant teenage moms).
Personally I don't have the same enthusiasm for the model I once had. I do wish her all the best of luck but it's sadly just not there anymore.
