Whenever Oprah Winfrey struts on the red carpet, or graces the cover of O magazine, her style always comes off as effortless. Always classic and always timeless, this media tycoon rarely takes unflattering risks, and always looks like a billion dollar bill. "How does she do it?" we ask ourselves. How does "O" shine on and off the red carpet and pull it off with such finesse?
If you've ever pondered this question, then meet the mastermind behind Oprah's chic wardrobe--none other than celebrity stylist, Luke Destin. He is the very man responsible for styling Oprah for her signature "O" Magazine covers, and making her look "red carpet fabulous."
A true curator of style, Luke Destin took the time to share in his area of expertise, and even brings BV on Style inside Oprah's closet.
How did you begin your career as Oprah's stylist?
My mother went to school with Oprah, and it was through her that we met. I styled Oprah for one of the covers for "O" Magazine a few years ago, and have been styling her for all of her covers ever since.
What is it like working with Oprah?
It's amazing. I have been doing it for a long time. Oprah is a wonderful lady, and because of who she is, it is very easy to get clothes for her.
What approach do you take when styling her?
Usually, I pull some looks together for her, and we discuss them. It's easy to style Oprah in nothing but the best because all of the designers are always willing to make anything that she wants, or create looks catered to her. So it's very easy to keep her looking good every day. Honestly, it takes a village, buy you know what, we get it done, and she always looks fabulous.
How would you describe her personal style?
Oprah is conservative chic. Her style is classic, clean, never too over the top.
If I were to peek inside Oprah's closet, what would I find there?
She adores designers such as Narcisco Rodriquez, Valentino, and Oscar [de la Renta], so you would definitely find some staple pieces from those designers in there. Oprah is also a big fan of Tory Burch as well.
What is one of Oprah's signature pieces?
A simple black dress--I say that because you can re-create it and make it yours. She loves that. And like Oprah, mix the simple black dress with ornate accessories and dress it up.
What is one style that you would like to see more women adopt?
Every woman should have a simple black heel, that way you can re-create it and make it yours.
What trend do you wish would just go away?
Leggings! I think that leggings are so over rated. We've been doing the leggings for so many years, and I am over them right now.
What's next for you?
Well, being that Oprah is going to retire in 2011, I will probably start working on some of my own fashion pursuits, and maybe start my own fashion label, because I will finally have some free time!

Oprah is elegant...period. Her external elegance is just a mere reflection of her internal beauty.
On a side note,I find it highly rude for people to leave degrading comments about her the way they have. She is a human being just the way we all are, and if you would not want someone speaking negatively about you in this manner, or any manner, period, why would you speak this way concerning another human being? And a woman for that matter? Life is demanding as it is. Degrading comments and name-calling can only make it all the more challenging.
For those speaking harshly, I pray that goodness will overwhelm you so that you can see what it means to bask in love and all good things. Maybe then you will understand the importance of valuing the most important creation on earth...people. God Bless you, and may someone touch your heart this year in a such a great way that it will turn your negativity into something good.

I have always loved watching The Oprah Winfrey show but I have to say that she does not always wear the most flattering clothes. A lot of her outfits make her look much heavier than she is. Her stylist should try to play down her weight. She also wears too tight pants and too high heals for her weight.

Where do these illiterate, ignorant nuts come from? They are obviously unemployed/unemoployable/irrational and couldn't organize and express a single thoughtif their next welfare check depended on it..Oprah fans? She deserves better than this.

I do like Oprah and her show, but she is not consistently styled with perfection. Some days her clothes are very flattering - right cut, right style, right color. Other days her clothes make her look heavier than she is - frumpy. And the fake lashes have got to go! They are like little animals residing on her eyelids. Maybe fake lashes would be ok, but with perhaps half the volume. And cut the amount of dark eyeshadow in half too.

Oprah is not gay or ugly.
And she has a good heart.
