The seasoned fashion journalist scathingly remarked that Halle Berry's Kaufman Franco gown was "an ill-proportioned cleavage dress that was a mixture of drag queen and pool hustler." Ouch.

She also called Mariah Carey, who wore a body-hugging Hervé Leger, a "convincing battleship in black" and made reference to her forceful bosoms.

She blames the apparent poor fashion choices on designers who "prefer to stay away from the awards shows, and the actresses, worried about bad publicity, [who] don't know the difference anymore."

no the fashions were just fine. Even though mariah carey's dress was a bit much for a event of that nature.

Critics in general, rarely know what they're talking about but fashion critics are the most incapable of competent reviews. Halle and Mariah look amazing and sexy (make 'em bounce, Mimi!!). Leona's does look a bit tacky like a cheap prom dress.

Why most critics aren't taken seriously is simply because its just another opinion - like a@#holes, well, you know the rest.
Halle looks stunning as usual, and Mariah, though the dress is pretty, she still hasn't learned that that subtlety and sexiness often times go hand in hand. I guess she figures she bought those breasts, doggone it, and she's going to show as much of them as possible to the public whenever the opportunity arises. Leona's dress is not one many would choose for themselves but I think she looks good in it.

I like their fashions. If a dress doesn't work, then critics should explain why (i.e., a different color would better compliment complexion, another length would look better, cut of the dress makes shoulders look bad, etc). The catty comments don't help anyone.

Fashion is abstract. It's interpretation depends on the designer's unique perception, vision and talent as well as the wearer's individual taste and style. So, if they like what they are wearing, who are we to decide otherwise for them?

What a coincidence that Ms Critic only critiqued gowns worn by African-American actress, another racist and yes, I'm playing the race card because that what Cathy dealt.
Bet Cathy's flat chested as a man.

I agree with you 100% JGCOPELAND. And, has anyone noticed that in 98% of commercials featuring african-americans that the women all have some sort of curly or afro hair styles and most are overweight.
I'm glad to see "us" working but we all aren't overweight with afros. I'm just saying.

Halle has worn many beautiful dresses; however, this is not one of my favorites. She still outshone many of the other women that night, however.

Halle looks like she's changed...kind of looks european, not to disrespect europeans but her looks doesn't look as nubian as before.
