Black Hollywood seems to be in familiar territory this awards season with two surprisingly talented women nominated in top categories. With stakes high, Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe will have the world's eyes on them at the Academy Awards this Sunday night and they can't disappoint on the red carpet. If the Golden Globes Awards were any indication of what we can expect to see them wearing at the Oscars, then these 'Precious' stars will surely dazzle in bold-hued gowns that complement their curvaceous bodies. Because Mo'Nique and Gabby are 'Precious' to us, we can't help but root for them to rule the red carpet in style! BV has come up with Oscar gown predictions that will surely help the two leading ladies blindside their fashionable competition.STYLE STATS
Actress: Mo'Nique
Oscar Nomination: Best Supporting Actress
Golden Globes Style: Strapless metallic gold Reem Acra dress, Everlon diamond knot earrings and Stuart Weitzman "Delovely" sandals in gold supple kid
Fashion Faux Pas Fix: Mo'Nique Loves to show off her unshaven legs

STYLE STATS
Actress: Gabourey Sidibe
Oscar Nomination: Best Actress
Golden Globes Style: Emerald silk chiffon gown with a sparkling bejeweled waistline by Los Angeles-based African-American designer Kevan Hall. The gown was accented with a Kwiat diamond necklace, Kwiat diamond bangle, and vintage Swarovski silver clutch
Fashion Faux Pas Fix: Choosing garments that reveal unflattering parts of her figure

Prediction: Sidibe's powerful performance in 'Precious; has catapulted the relatively-unknown actress into the spotlight. The 26-year-old star can't afford to make red-carpet blunders if she plans to sustain the momentum of her career after the Oscars are over. This is her time to shine. Sidibe needs to make an unforgettable entrance Sunday night, because who's to say she'll be given another role worthy of an Oscar nod? Black is timeless and classic. We love this black crepe satin gown with lace detail from Edition by Georges Chakra's fall 2010 collection recently shown at New York Fashion Week. This dress is elegant, but the beaded bust and sleeves makes it young and modern -- perfect for a twenty-something young lady like Sidibe. The cap sleeves will work well to minimize Sidibe arms, but the length is not too long, so she won't look matronly. Sidibe does not need to hide her body in tons of fabric, which is why is we like the contrast of the lace front at the top of the gown. We would even go as far as adding a slim belt to this gown to further clinch Sidibe's waist. No matter what your size is, control-top undergarments are key to looking seamless, and we love the Waist Cincher Shaper Slimming Tummy Shaper by Summit Fashions. Sidibe should definitely wear a shaper to help create an hourglass figure for her curvy frame.

What matters is what Gabby and MoNique think of themselves. However, I am sure that Gabby has gotten lotsssss of looks and stares even from actors and actresses around her. You know there is a lot of talk behind her back. Also, we as Black people have dirty laundry--most Blacks have this thing about skin color, hair length and texture, and size. In our Black race, Gabby is not considered ideal beauty because of her extremely dark skin or considered healthy. Monique wears her size well, gaining anymore weight, however, would not be in her best interest health wise . And stretch marks are a big problem too.
Even when I look at Gabby especially, I gasp because she is morbidly obese. She can not do anything about her skin color which God gave her, but she can do something about her size. Somebody be a witness for me--there are so many health fairs, community announcements, magazine ads etc., etc., that target the Black culture about heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure--all preventable diseases and are associated with being overweight and obese. We know that young Black girls are overweight and obese due to eating a diet high in fat, bad carbohydrates, high calories, enormous amounts of sugar and salt. We have to take control. I believe that weight loss foremost takes place in your mind--that is where you will lose 90% of your weight, meaning the mind has to be programmed and reprogrammed; this is done through reading traditional fitness books, going to workshops, watching DVDs, listening to CDs, and checking the internet for a good info, then your body will be compelled to do the work automatically. It works.
Meanwhile, it is not polite to ridicule women like Gabby, MoNique, and Oprah. Racist whites who make such direct insults are despicable. They would be better off looking at the man in the mirror. Racism and bigotry is never attractive; it is ugly inside and out. Get a life for those of you making such derogatory attacks.
It is these women's time to shine and enjoy their good fortune. I am sure this will be wonderful memories for them. They will gain insight about things and will decide what is best for them.

Listen marylandman003 - although Gabby is indeed too overweight and needs to lose weight, Monique is an attractive African American woman. Now, as a black man, I wouldn't expect a genetic cannibal neanderthal like yourself to appreciate African beauty. I don't prefer the neanderthal look i.e. stringy hair, devoid of melanin skin, pointing nose and no lips. She chooses not to shave her legs but her legs are attractive.
Do you think we base our tastes on your? I certainly don't. And Gabby, definitely time to lose some weight.

Gabby is a great actress, however she needs gastric bypass. She's not a good roll model for young black women. Monique is looking good and is a great actress. Gabby, you have to do something or call Muhammad the tent maker.

Bill, I'm a black man and I'd like to know what your race and nationality is? But you say they have ape and primate features. I think Monique has a beautiful face and Gabby has an attractive fact too but she is, IMO, way overweight. But, with regards to African features, I prefer dark skin (melanin), not devoid of melanin skin. I prefer a flatter nose, not a pointy nose. I prefer thicker lips and not 'no lips'. I prefer thick, wooly hair - not stringy. The reason caucasians have no melanin and stringy hair and pointy noses and eye that are sometimes, blue/green etc. is because you have no melanin cause you descend from cavemen (neanderthals). You weren't exposed to the sun and when scientists recently unearthed a neanderthal burial ground, they found neander-teeth marks on all the bones. The neanderthals were cannibals and all whites and no blacks carry the neanderthal gene. I can see neanderthal traits in your physical bodies as well. You're sqwat (short legs), wider hips, hairy bodies. Bill, haven't you noticed whenever one of you genetic cannibal neanderthals murders someone, you devour/digest a part of your victim? That's just the neanderthal gene working inside you. Now, Africans did not descend from apes. Although Thomas Jefferson, in Notes on VA, did lie and say black women were having sex with Orangutans, that pedophile was just trying to justify being a slave owner. In conclusion, you don't have to appreciate dark skin, flat noses, thicker lips, kinky hair but, as a black man, I find them sexy and beautiful and way more attractive than your neanderthal features (assuming you're caucasian, cause you might not be). If you're latino or asian - I'll explain why you look like you do if you're man enough to identify your race and nationality.

Marylandman003. I agree with you about segregation but for a different reason. You white people are dirty, funky and nasty! Now most of your color wants to be like us. We never wanted to be like you. We just had to work for you. Even then you still wanted to be with us. Now you want to be us. Look at all of your people getting butt, breast and lip implants. Darn let us have something for ourselves. Your women want our men. Which doesn't leave much out there for us. They come to your side because white women will do ANYTHING the man wants. We have limits, your women have none!I'm quite sure a women you were with had a taste of our men and rolled out on you. That's where all the hatred comes from.
