The first lady wasn't the only one who wore bold colors for the dinner, which was held in honor of Mexican president Felipe Calderon and his wife. Guest Eva Longoria Parker wore a bright-orange gown.

And Gayle King, accompanied by her main squeeze, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, went for a fiery hue as well.

Ever one to buck the trend, Whoopi Goldberg showed up in basic (very basic) black.

Desiree did a darn good job previously she worked her socks off for this administration, I am sure she gave the new lady a great deal of input, blacks are hard working people you should no that ever since slavery! even those in the white house those who's faces you will never she on the front page, we always want to compliment the manager but it's the chief, cook, waiter & cleaner who do the majority of hard work the the person with the clip board!

The First Lady is stunning. I also love the color of Eva's and Gayle's dresses but I like the syle of Eva's dress better. Whoopi is my girl and she does her own thing. I am unsure if that dress is the most form flattering. The dress is cute in an odd way. I love her dreads and the way they are cut.

First Lady Michelle ALWAYS looks flawless, classy and timeless. This dress is no exception. Hair, make-up, accents all perfect.
Eva Longoria: The dress is beautiful but on her it is TOO MUCH. She's tiny and this gown makes her look as if she raided her big sister's closet.
As for Gayle King, why is wearing big dangling earrings and dangling hair covering her eyes? The color of the gown is beautiful but the overall style seems "non committal". Has no "real" direction. The waist is "empire" ... (sort of) and the drape in the front is "too much" and unnecessary. Makes her look bulky and matronly rather than fashionable and most importantly,
she doesn't have the "arms" for this one shouldered look. Note Eva and First Lady.
A woman reaches a certain age, I think "clean lines" work best.
As for Whoopy: I call this typical "Whoopy, why bother" style. She has always done her own thing partly because she is a maverick and partly (in my humble opinion) she decided long ago that she was not the "glamour girl" type so why bother? It isn't true. I've seen her in some of her early films(Jumping Jack Flash) and she had a GORGEOUS body. Obviously, at this stage of her life though, she has made "peace" with herself and I applaud that.
Go Whoopy!!!

Not only does the First Lady look good; she appears to be a really good person who is not into trivia sensibilities concerning herself or her family.
