Conservative-minded gossipers around the Web are calling the look risque, but, let's face it, it doesn't show off any more or any less than the average tennis dress. But we will say it looks more like lingerie than something an athlete competes in, and it must be rather distracting to her opponent. Maybe that's the point?

Serena Williams sported this studded Nike top and a daring denim skirt during the 2004 US Open.
There's nothing so wrong with this lavender tennis dress Venus wore a few years back, but we generally think sequins should be reserved for evening wear.
Serena says this controversial catsuit, which she wore for the 2002 US Open, was what made her famous. It certainly made a legion of men take note of her attributes -- and we're not talking about athletic prowess.
Back in '04, the younger Williams paired a sporty jacket (it says Serena on the back) and a flirty black skirt with "knee-length" tennis shoes.
Is this beachwear or tennis gear? Serena has been causing controversy for years with her daring on-court ensembles. This two-piece number from 2004 is no exception.
This hot pink corset-like dress, which Venus wore in April 2010, was the precursor to her controversial lace getup.

THOSE OUTFITS ARE VERY TACKY. YOU WOULD THINK AFTER ALL THE YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING AND SEEING PHOTOS OF THEMSELVES THEY WOULD KNOW BETTER BY NOW.

I agree Mimi...a little self respect wouldn't be so bad...this way of dressing and so many other ways some blk female stars dress is the reason some black women don't get that much respect...I mean some ignorant person will this and think we all dress like that...and then we're the first complain that blks are not given a fair chance in anything...do u blame them for thinking that way?...If u show all ur assets on the court(which I'm sure no man would mind) what's left to the imagination..and that goes for music/movies stars also...
It's not about being an athlethe or having money it's beyond all that...look, tennis is has always been a classy game and I know the Williams sis worked their butt off to get where they are....but they shouldn't throw all that hard work away because nobody wants to respect them...and being an hour glass figured woman myself...believe me I know sometimes us blk females can't help our attributes being enchanced through clothings...we're all not built to be stick figures...but it can be done in a classy way...I'm the only one who feels this way?

mimi the way i see it they are entitled to wear what ever they like. They have the funds to do so. Wether it's tacky or not. We all have a right to wear what we want, this is America after all.

I was nt going to comment till I saw this assinine statement .
what do you mean "they would know better by now"? these are successsful grown ass women . they can wear whatever they feel like wearing. they're not doing drugs ,having OWW babies, going around with no underwear on .Quit trying to please mr. charlie he aint going to like you no matter what you wear. I cant believe in this day and age we still judging ourselves based on how they see us.

first let me say....no hate here.....the sisters can play their asses off!!!!!.....they got that down patt!!!
and it's okay to be different and have a different style than the rest......but this mess right here...it just aint right!!!....it's a hot mess!!!
and white folk are talking and laughing at them and they don't even know it....seems they are oblivious to it all...
plus....what's wrong with wearing tennis whites every now and again.....what's with all the black?....wearing black is ok...but dayuum...it's too much!!!!
back to my originial statement.....nothing wrong with being different....but not tacky....and do your butt and breasts have to always be showing????!!!
