"You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message," Dan Matthews, PETA Senior Vice President wrote in the letter, which was obtained by Black Voices. "You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?"
Matthews went so far as to reference the death of her brother, Michael Jackson: "I've admired your grace 'Good Times' to your family's recent hard times. I sincerely hope that the events of recent years haven't hardened your heart to the suffering of others."
Jackson hasn't responded to the low blow, but PETA has been successful at getting many stars -- such as Beyoncé and Kimora Lee -- to forsake their furs in the past. Should Janet stick by her new employer or join the anti-fur cause?
Fur or Against?
Fur Foe: Michelle Obama
The first lady (and first fashion plate) gets plenty of attention for her bright and creative outfits, but you'll never catch her wearing fur. Her press secretary has confirmed that the only fur Mrs. O is attached to belongs to her family's new puppy, Bo.
Fur Fan: Mary J. Blige
Not only is MJB not afraid of fur, she's not afraid of double up, if her fur Louis Vuitton scarf and mink coat combo are any indication. Mary has no patience for PETA's fur hateration, either. She once said, "Those PETA people don't want to mess with me, they don't want to throw paint on my coat because it's not just going to be throwing paint. It's going to be Mary in the news the next day, you know what I mean? What gives them the right to destroy someone's coat because their opinion is that you shouldn't wear animals?"
Fur Fan: Naomi Campbell
This scandal-plagued supermodel once posed for a sexy anti-fur campaign. Imagine the surprise of animal activists when the Brit started modeling furs in fashion shows and wearing them out on the town! As it turns out, Campbell loves her fur and has no intentions of giving it up -- ad campaign or no ad campaign.
Fur Foe: Persia White
Like Naomi Campbell, this 'Girlfriends' star has participated in anti-fur campaigns. Unlike Naomi Campbell, the actress (and wife of poet Saul Williams) participated in her very graphic PETA ad for more than just appearance's sake. Chances are she wouldn't be caught dead in a fur coat.
Fur Fan: Kanye West
Rap's ultimate divo, Kanye West, fancies himself a fashion expert. Then why did the folks at PETA place his name on their 2009 worst dressed list? This gray Louis Vuitton mink scarf might have a little something to do with it.
Fur Foe: Leona Lewis
British singer Leona Lewis is outspoken about her anti-fur beliefs. "It's such an old-school way of doing things," she has said. "I can't begin to imagine that people who know all these animals have been killed to make a coat can still wear it. There must be something seriously wrong with them."
Fur Fan: Aretha Franklin
If someone told the Queen of Soul that something was "seriously wrong with her" for her for wearing fur, she might tell them to show her a little more R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Ms. Franklin proudly wears full-length furs when she's out on the town or posing on the red carpet, and she doesn't care what anyone says about it. Because no one would dare step to her in person, anti-fur activists defaced her Hollywood star instead.
Fur Foe: Forest Whitaker
Whitaker won an Oscar for portraying 1970s Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, who was rumored to have dabbled in cannibalism, but the actor himself doesn't eat meat at all! He has never spoken out against fur, specifically, but he's a darling of animal-rights activists for his vegetarianism, which he's passed along to his daughter, True, and has promoted publicly.
Fur Fan: Jennifer Lopez
PETA decided to give frequent enemy JLo a break, excluding her from its 2009 worst-dressed list, because, according to the organization, she hadn't been spotted wearing fur for at least a year. Apparently, they didn't catch this shot of Mrs. Marc Anthony carting around daughter Emme in a flamboyant fur-trimmed coat on Feb. 15. The Bronx bombshell keeps it really real -- all the protesters in the world won't keep her from wearing her favorite furs or using them in her fashion lines.
Fur Foe: Kristoff St. John
He might play a drama-filled role on 'Young & the Restless,' but Kristoff St. John likes to keep his clothes drama free. No animal pelts for this soap star.

Most of the people are to blame for losing their homes, in the first place. We all are responsible to take are of other people and the animals. It is our obligation AS HUMANS!!!!!!!!!

First of all, Peta is an animal rights organization not a people rights organization. It is amazing to me that people think they have the right to skin an animal alive and the animal looks up at them with their last breath, probably thinking why did you do that to me. We should not have to choose between animals or people we all should be able to live in the world with out being tortured. if it is true, that Janet Jackson is really doing this I will never listen or watch her again. WHAT A POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!

God never said we are better than animals. He said it was our responsibility to help all mankind! He never said we are better because we are human. I don't understand why on earth we have to kill animals for the fur. Really, why can't you wear something other than fur? Just so you can say the material is better? How ridiculous are you IDIOTS?

Question, Is PETA this outraged over Rats? And you know I do Not mean the ones you buy at Pet stores. I mean the ones that can crawl into your house? The ones you call the extermaitor for because they could be "rabid" or simply diseased? This is supposed to be America where a person is believed to have the Right to pursue Happeness In a manner of thier choice. Just because you don't agree is not an excuse to Shame some one into your will. pay that much attention to pollution on the planet then yell about clothing some people wear,in this day and age its a good bet that its some dead rodent, that someone else got to eat get over it all ready.
