Jewel By Lisa (JBL) has made a name for itself by pioneering the embellished Ankara fabric -- adorning it with beads, Swarovski crystals and sequins. Each piece of the JBL collection is distinctive and original, fusing the vibrant West African print with an ultramodern vibe.

Kelis also performed recently in London, where she sported a green Ankara print shirtdress. A few days later in New York, she modeled the JBL "Frou Frou" skirt on BET's '106 & Park.'
In an interview with 'MTV News,' Kelis said of 'Flesh Tone,' her latest LP, "It's got all these ethnic influences in it. There is a Native American element to it and an African element to it and an Asian element to it. It's really tribal and kind of surreal at the same time."

Oh yes thank you Kelis for promoting our African style....I'm sure you'll use it in a very creative way because that's just how you are...but please don't go too crazy..lol....It's been around for years and years...Society needs to embrace our style too...its not all Gucci,Prada etc... who know fashion... Besides only the African style is original and fresh, you can only get it from Africa...no other place on Earth...unlike every other style in the fashion industry...Do your thing Kelis and embrace your roots...oh and btw it doesn't cost 10grand to own an african attire...just a sense of style....Trust me I know I'm AFRICAN and proud of it!

I'm happy to see that she has given those five thousand dollar weaves a break. Natural looks good on her

weaves... what are you talking about? before kelis chopped off all of her hair four years ago. she wasn't wearing weaves. that was all hers. you women kills me, thinking that all women of color wear weaves. our hair do grow down our backs if you refrain from using the harse chemicals that are designed to take it out. our hair grows faster and longer than white folks. an actual fact.

Dena, apparently you have been out of the mix for a minute. There was an article right here in BV about five months ago regarding Kelis and the 5K that she spent on a weave, while asking for hundreds of thousands in child support. Read before you respond with attitude love.

I think the person was referring to the $5,000 weave that Keis allegedly went to get and didn't pay for...
