Not too long after, international brand Marc Jacobs also unofficially announced it would start carrying clothing in sizes larger than a size 14. According to the Guardian, Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy tweeted that the company is in the early stages of planning a plus-size range.
Though 34 percent of Americans over 20 are considered overweight or obese, designers historically hesitated to create big sizes because they thought larger women didn't spend money on pricey designer clothes. But with a growing number of plus sized yet stylish women like Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, and Queen Latifah on red carpets and the increasing popularity of stores like Torrid, it's clear that catering to this demographic is a sure way to build a brand and increase its bottom line.

It's a fact and a reality that is the driving force on this move, not to mention, the money won't hurt. Saks Fifth Avenue has a whole clothing line called Salon Z, that caters to the plus sized woman, that's right, high end fashion. Add Juicy Couture, whom I just love, to the mix, they have a nice array of plus sized clothing. Again, it's a fact. Every lovely woman out there, is not a size 8. She is anywhere from a size 12 and up.

Look, instead of making "bigger and bigger" clothes, these women...especially black women need to just lost some damn weight! Black women are, and continue to be the most overweight for women of "ALL" races in the US today! What's up with that? And, only wearing bigger clothes isn't, and never was the answer to looking better, or being healthier! Sorry, fat is still just FAT!

Sorry, I disagree! We don't need plus sizes, we only need overweight women...black women in particular to lose the weight! It's a serious health issue, and as a woman you should be knowledgable of that fact!

Stop hating, Eric. The subject here isn't 'Is it healthy to be Fat'. Everyone needs clothes, and it's time the designers looked around and realize that we like to dress nicely too. I have to laugh at the designer's idea of plus size though, 12-18.

Sorry Eric. Not every women is a sie 6. Not every women is willing to starve to be a size 6 while men continue to eat. Thats why there are so many women that are so bitter. Because they're hungry. But on the serious tip, I'm glad designers finally realize plus women love high fashion too.
