The European brand E-Label has recently accused Beyonce of stealing their designs for her line House of Dereon. The owners specifically point to a pair of leggings, (pictured above) which they say look eerily similar to the the pair of 'Heavy Metal' leggings from their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection (pictured below).

One of the labels' owners, Heba Hallgrimsdottir made a statement addressing the incident:
"This is naturally huge and I am still half in shock. I didn't [recognize] straight away that this was her own label: I just thought she was wearing our leggings. It is practically just copy/paste...I have only just heard about this and no decision has yet been taken. We need to inspect her brand's trousers closer because, according to law, it is not copied if a certain number of things have been changed from the original design."
What do you think? Does E-Label have a case?

I say "RIP OFF"! Just like she is RIPPING off Rhianna's, Cassie's, and Keri's short punk hair style. She just can't be ORIGINAL? What a shame? That pose, fake tat, and half dress look is not CLASSY. Nice try Bey, I really wish she would go away!

humm . . . The thing about design, or any inspiration or inspired idea, be it a design, product, or even musical sound. . .
Here's my personal thought on this subject: According to the good book, "there is nothing new under the sun." If you get your item/idea to the market first, then you are the originator.
At any give moment, the Lords gives several, even hundreds, of people the same idea, if you get yours out first, then you are the winner, everyone else is considered a copy cat.
The only way people are branded as thieves, is when they have known that person, or they developed the idea together. For example, what about the design house that copies the "Oscar Red Carpet Dress Designs" for less, he is never sued, and is on Good Morning America the next day showing his knock-off dresses. While it is true, that when he copies, they are not exactly alike, yet, they are similar.
The same principal hold true with these leggings/tights, yes, they are similar, not an exact copy, and yes, because Beyonce is who she is, her brand will probably sell better, than the European brand, because she had the access to go there, and find them, and bring them back, to the women in the United States.
You must remember, that this is actually her Mother's business, and yes, she is a supporting partner, but her Mother is the designer, and she always has been.
The unnecessary comments posted about this Young Woman are quite unfortunate. The comments are defamatory, and they sound like ,jealousy. Let us lift up each other and tear each other down, Beyonce is very talented, musically, and is not going anywhere soon. Beyonce will be around the music industry as long as her God given musical talent allows, just like any of the Legends of the 60's and 70's {Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Dianna Ross, Nancy Wilson, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan - just to name a few that are still cranking out music.} She gives back to the community with her charities and foundations, so let us keep on track.
This article is about the clothing industry, and not the music industry.
So can we Please try to keep our comments on subject for once. Thank You.
Half of the people with their names on clothing labels, do not design their clothing. But Beyonce's mother does design her's and has been since she was with the Group. If you don't like them, then don't buy them. As far as ripping off something, well, that is questionable, it could have been a design that was going through her mind, and she bought them to show her mother, and now they are inspired by design leggings, :-)
I'm sure that if you go out and purchase of pair of black leggings and buy a "Bedazzler," you too can make these leggings. :-)
And what about the people that sew by pattern, some people take several patters to make one fashion item. Are they thieves as well? No, they are just everyday people that have been blessed with the talent of sewing, no one sue's them, or threatens them. But because of her name, Beyonce, well, her mother, Mrs. Knowles, has to be very careful about her inspirations. I pray that things go well for them.
OK enough said on the subject, I voted in the poll that I was indifferent.
Because as I stated previously, when the Lord give an idea to one, He gives it to many, and I hope that you all will be the first to get your idea's and inspirations no matter what they are out to the public first one day!
ONE LAST THING: I am with you, why are these advertisement lurkers, allowed to get their non-topic related junk comments on first. It makes you not want to post at all. I thought that AOL was spam protected. And that is what this is SPAM - There are too many free web-sites out there for them to invade the boards like this.

Ltheria,
I am the only one before you made a comment made comment about her ripping designers off. You said,
"The unnecessary comments posted about this Young Woman are quite unfortunate. The comments are defamatory, and they sound like ,jealousy. Let us lift up each other and tear each other down, Beyonce is very talented, musically, and is not going anywhere soon".
Could you show me where on this blog anybody was doing that? I was talking about Beyonce's designs and ripping off designers in my comment and did say that "I wish that she would go away". I don't think I was referring to her MUSIC, although she is "Overrated" in my opinion? I wasn't tearing her down? I have no reason to be jealous first of all. Now, if there was a blog about her musically, on her dress, ect..., I have every right in my opinion to say how I feel. People in general are going to make comments about whomever, even if it does not have to do with what the topic is? You have the right to your opinion but I never on any blogs brought this woman down nor called her out her name. I may dislike the way she acts, her dress attire, her dancing, ect.. ect... and again, I and everybody else has the right to their own opinion. I see the only think you agreed with was the people on here making IRRELEVANT COMMENTS?
Even though you didn't mention my name on here, I knew you were talking about me? You probably said what you said because of me making comment about Bey on previous blogs and knows how I feel about her OVERALL? Beyonce is not that serious and this is just Entertainment. You sound so protective of her? What's up with that?

Listen Beyonce has already proved who she is and doesn't need to even worry about anything said about her being said! Your going about this wrong opinions are like a##holes everyone has one!

Wow!! you did a nice thing with your article. In reading it, I found that you mentioned some things, that I did not think of. You are correct in your comment about up-lifting, rather than putting people down. I am working on that as of right now, not being so critical of others, that is. Thanks for the reminder.

I second that DimePiece! RIP-OFF!
Sorry, but the designs between the two are just too similar.
Come on, you must be blind if you can't see it.
