Cassius Clay (yes, that's his real name) was just a regular college sophomore when he was tapped on the shoulder by West, who complimented him on his style while shopping in Barneys New York. Soon after, he became the rapper's right-hand man.
The new stylist -- who took a leave of absence to become Kanye's creative consultant -- recently spoke to a blog for the hip store Opening Ceremony about his once-in-a-lifetime experience saying, "My father is in his eighties and my mother in her sixties so they're not exactly Kanye's typical listening demographic. Still, they could appreciate opportunity and were very supportive. My mother made a Twitter account to follow Kanye (not me), and I've found both 'Graduation' and 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' in my father's car." We can't wait to see what he puts together for Kanye in 2011.

It's fascinating how people get jobs... Imagine, just shopping in a store and Kanye West walks up and offers you a lucrative opportunity that is so significant you choose to just drop out of Yale??? I don't buy it. I, personally, applied for over 10,000 jobs since January 2010. I wrote and had stolen brilliant melodies that are now being sung by celebrities. I have written proposition after proposition and most are now considered theorems. Yet, I have not received one job offer or payment in lieu of.....
It's fascinating on the state of things. I'd swear these were the end of days.... And to that I say, Bring it on.

I don't buy this publicity stunt on Kanye's part to win back the support of White America. Such a heart warming feel good story, famous Black rapper gives a once in a lifetime opportunity to an anonymous White person named Cassius Clay. When will Black people learn Whites will never accept a Black man with who stands for something and has voice and uses it to speak out against injustices being committed. Another outspoken Black person who has been broken by a system created and by and 4 White people.
Now on the flip side if this story is factual which I seriously doubt Kanye is seriously out of touch. When will we learn that we must provide opportunity for our people first. It's called racial preservation. If I have a job it's going to a qualified Black person. If we don't create opportunities for each other when they exist no on else will. Hire those that look like u and that u have more in common with not some White Harvard student who has their life written for them. Do you know how many talented Black stylist that are out their who could use this opportunity. Every other race of people do for themselves first. U can be bet ur life savings that Taylor Swift has a white stylist. We are a lost people who have been stripped of our identity and I pray that we find our way.

I could not have said it better!! We as black people must provide an oppirtunity for our people first. I'M NOT IMPRESSED that Kenye went into a clothing store a just so happended to find this young man. He(Kanye)could have walked in any urban store and picked a young black male with swag chose him to be his personal consultant! Why not give your people a chance. How soon we forget the limited opportunities we have as a race, particularly young black ment. Im sure this Cassius didnt need the help of Kanye to become a sucess. He's white and he was studying at Yale. Again, im not impressed. I hope his effort of trying to be accepted in the white culture leaves him room to think about how he could have given the opportunity to his kind(race preservation)
