Tonight the nation watched as
President Obama provided the State of the Union address, speaking to all Americans about the need for unity, strength, and resilience. His wife,
First Lady Michelle Obama, as usual, stood proudly and fashionably amongst the members of Congress, supporting the President and his commitment to creating a better America.
Michelle Obama's look was chic and conservative, choosing a silver sheath dress by
Rachel Roy that shone against the dark suits that filled the chamber. She added a fashionable twist to the simple look with an armful of lucite bangles and sophisticated drop earrings. Her most important accessory was the black and white lapel ribbon she wore in honor of
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Though there were serious issues and ideas that were addressed in tonight's speech, it's safe to say that
Michelle Obama's impressive style also inspires and motivates women across the nation. Below are previous outfits for the last two State of the Union Addresses.
Last year, she rocked a purple, longsleeved dress.

At her first state of the Union address, she boldly wore a sleeveless dress, which created quite a stir on whether it was appropriate. But for us, she's fashionable, stylish and most appropriate.

Act and look Black for a change Michelle O! Let your hair go natural and stop trying to be Jackie O!
As a people, we have much to be ashamed of - the disproportionate number of Black men in prison, the debasement of our women, the Yo-mother-f**ker language employed by our youth and now the burden of Mrs. Obama as First Lady. From her stereo-typical planting of a "truck" garden at the White House to her ape-like mimicking of white hair style and fashion, she is a mixed message of what it means to be Black in America today.
It is no wonder that all too many of our people - if not most of us - feel inherently inferior to white people.
If we cannot clean up our cultural icons in crime-rejectin versus injection, "ho" bashing rap music, role model ministers, and even first ladies, we cannot advance nor expect truly deserved equality with our white fellow citizens.

Sit your militant ass down. There is more than one way to skin a rat and you should know that. Mrs. Obama was not wearing her natural before she became first lady, so why should she do so now? It is her choice how she wears her hair, not your. And by the way Jackie Kennedy ain't got nothing on Michele.

Now, you want her to do what you want to do. The color of her skin is a blessing, not a directive. Jackie O did not corner the market on style nor control the 'style' mold. I'm sure someone else help narrow her final choices. Michele wears what she wears elegantly and stylishly. Let her do her and you do you.

Michelle always looks fantastic. I'm so tired of some of the silly comments from the public on what they thinks she should be wearing. Continue doing what you've been doing. Someone should let Joan Rivers know where it is she can go for her comments, and I don't mean to her plastic surgeon.
