From the Daily Mail:
What are we to make of yet another series of damaging headlines for fashion? After the revelation that John Galliano nursed hatred for Jews comes the news that the hairdresser James Brown - an influential figure in fashion given his long collaboration with Kate Moss - used the 'N' word. Both Galliano and Brown have swiftly apologised. Their ignorance could be seen as isolated incidences. But the truth is that behind the headlines there is something much more sinister and, ultimately, more damaging and institutionalised going on in fashion.

Stop buying from them i rather have my own name on my clothing as well as my childrens. If you know what you like, you know how you want it to look & fit, if you can't sew or draw it. Get someone else to do it and stop buying their s--t. That's what i do, and care less about what they say or make. People who are still using the N word are N's see it only should hurt if the she fits, and it don't fit so they should A Quit! Get It ?

something I mentioned in my book "I May Not Know What I'm Talking About But I'm Gonna Say It Anyway", where I get into the importance of supporting those of our blackground instead of continuing to support those who really don't want or feel need our support. And until we do as a people, we will always be disrespect. Currently on Amazon.com, Xlibris.com and barnes and noble online, it will inspire or at least give you something to think about.

Those who can afford it stop buying, most people I know cannot afford it or like it. This just makes it easier to select. Move on.

I don't think they are asking for a boycott of the entire fashion industry because we have many fashion designers of diverse backgrounds and heritage. Boycott the two designers mention for their ignorance to diversity and the people who buy their clothing.

Yes, the fashion industry is racist. Fashion designers utilize black women as muses for white women. They take the fashion from Africa and claim it as their own invention, such as corn rows. . .black women were not allowed to wear them to work in the 60's and 70's. . .but Bo Derek braids were #10 sexy.
Whenever African prints are worn as sexy. . .the designers put them on white women.
It was noted by an Italian photographer that black women were being excluded from the runways in the USA and Europe. He dedicated a July issue in Italian Vogue to the situation. One issue does not generate much change.
Even Tyra Banks show about training models is racist. She rarely chooses the black, African American girl. . .and those who are truly photogenic are usually eliminated for some petty personality quirk while white girls are always sympathized with and forgiven and helped. I stopped watching her show because of the disparities. Tyra wants to be "top dog" in the beauty industry and eliminates sisters!
Even when sharing history, such as the beautiful black and brown people of Egypt and Ethiopia, Black men have run to claim the fame, but whenever they bring in the beautiful women they rush off to white. . .fashion and religion. Disgusting! Racist and sexist!

Can we just stop begging to be accepted by people that collectively dislike and mistreat us - world wide? We don't need their validation.

Two words: BUY BLACK! Tracy Reece and Rachel Roy are two sisters that have broken fashion's glass ceiling. If we as a people declared one month, say Black History Month, to purchase only from our communities and OUR OWN PEOPLE, this country would recognize just how powerful the Black dollar is. There is a Black Designers Association that can bring folks up to speed with who is making clothes BY US,FOR US.Go to www.blackfashiondesigners.org to become more aware of where and who we spend our fashion dollar with and on.
