Kelly Rowland is on a roll with her hit single "Motivation" and the killer performance she gave at the 2011 BET Awards. Her new album is now in stores, and to promote "Here I Am," Ms. Kelly has turned the already scorching summer heat up a notch with the August/September issue of Vibe.
When asked if she thought "Motivation" might be too overtly sexual for her image, she said, "I came into my sexuality while I was recording this album. I can walk into a sex shop now and not worry about what people would say if they saw me in there." Pick up the magazine to read the rest of the interview and listen to Rowland's album to hear more of her evolving sound.

Well her new CD SUCKS so I guess she has to do whatever she has to sell it because it surely isn't going to sell alone. I don't think the pictures are bad, they are done tastefully (she's basically jacking Janet's style on the CD cover and this is Vibe cover is like Donna Summer's album cover minus the teddy). It's just a shame that she has to go through all of this just to sell music.

SEX SELLS..that's the obvious message the music industry is relying on these days to keep money in their pockets. That's why this cover should be no surprise. If you look at most of the popular female artist today, they all sell sex to some degree to get what they want, including the power some think they have. Britney Spears, Rhianna, Christina Aguilera, Kerri Hilson, Lady Gaga, and yes...even Queen B and she's married to a man that encourages and pimps her to shoot video's with her butt & boobs hanging out and shaking everywhere to get the men out there to lust after her body to buy her music. Kelly is being no different than any of these women. I dont beleive she's trying to get out of Beyonce's shadow nor do I believe she's trying to be like her. She has no reason to. . There is no doubt the Beyonce is a talented and beautiful woman. but she is not the only one of them out there. What is making her transistion into her own is that most of these other artists named never came from a girls group. Kelly has the same challenge as the beautiful and talented Nona Hendryx from Pattie Labelle and Blue Belles and Mary Wilson from Diana Ross and the Supremes. Kelly didnt put herself in Beyonce's shadow...people did..... just like they did with these other two ladies when it came to Patti Labelle and Diana.
I dont believe any of them have to do a lot of things they do to sell records or make money. All of these ladies are talented, beautiful, and have their own unique style, including Kelly. It is sad, however, that the men that control the industry are pimping and exploiting them to keep themselves rich. What's even worse is that these gorgeous women are allowing them to do it and are being brain washed to some degree into convincing themselves is that SEX is the only way. The true test of time will come when all of them age out and the people that are backing and supporting them now turn on them for the new young hottest thing out there. The questions these ladies should be asking themselves NOW is THEN WHAT?

Kelly Rowland's Racy Vibe Cover
How long will it take for Black women to start respecting themselves? Black women who don't repect themselves will not be respected by others. The Old School Black Female entertainers of the 60s, did not show all that skin to get noticed. In fact, the Supremes were a class act in their behavior and dress. Where are the old school values of Black Female artists. The Black Church did not teach any of todays Black Female artists about godly public behavior. The Black Community is a cesspool of bad behavior and sexual sins of all kinds, it all started in the Entertainment Industry.

My goodness! Some of your comments seem so personal for something that I'm sure most of you would do if in her position. The majority of young women come into their sexuality in their 20's, so this is not surprising. I heard the song was #1 so I guess the majority of people are into soft porn, as one of the bloggers put it. Like someone else said this pose is old, so therefore, when Janet did it, there was no uproar, nor when any other ones did it, so if you don't like it, that's fine. However, it is Kelly's body and Kelly's career so if she wants to do it, then so be it. In an era when we have so many women who are famous because of sex tapes getting out, it is hard to tell young women coming up that this is not acceptable. Society has to mirror the type of behavior deemed appropriate. But you cannot promote and glamorize people who make sex a big part of being successful and then criticize others for doing it. This is the problem with acceptance and tolerance. You end up having to do just that, accept and tolerate what you would ordinarily be against.
