The Williams sisters have never been known for their sartorial modesty on the tennis court, but it's usually Serena who causes a stir with her wild athletic gear. Lately, though, Venus has been giving her younger sister a run for her money in the wardrobe controversy department. Just a few months after setting tongues wagging when she wore a pair of flesh-colored boy shorts, Venus showed up to the French Open in a black lace tennis dress (with similar brown boy shorts underneath).

Conservative-minded gossipers around the Web are calling the look risque, but, let's face it, it doesn't show off any more or any less than the average tennis dress. But we will say it looks more like lingerie than something an athlete competes in, and it must be rather distracting to her opponent. Maybe that's the point?

Check out some of the other crazy tennis outfits the Williams sisters have unveiled over the years.

There were no party crashers at last night's White House state dinner, but thanks to Michelle Obama's daring fashion choice, there was a little sliver of silver to shake up the those staid Washingtonians. The first lady wore a sparkly blue one-shouldered gown accented by a silver belt. It was designed by New York-based Peter Soronen, whose dresses Obama has worn several times.

The first lady wasn't the only one who wore bold colors for the dinner, which was held in honor of Mexican president Felipe Calderon and his wife. Guest Eva Longoria Parker wore a bright-orange gown.

You might think the NAACP Image Awards were all about 'Precious,' which won in most of the categories it and its actors were nominated in. But at BV on Style, they were a little bit about the fashion, too. The celebrities, who seemed split over whether this show is a floor-length gown affair or a flirty cocktail dress situation, came dressed to impress.

Jill Scott
looked amazing in a form-fitting sparkling knee-length shift, winner Gabourey Sidibe went retro in a flapper-inspired number and icon Cicely Tyson wore a gender-bending pantsuit that was flattering and unique. Click through for BV's picks for the hottest (and not so hot) from the NAACP Image Awards red carpet.
