Remember the 80's, when we first saw the lingerie trend on the likes of singing sensations Vanity 6, Apollonia and Sheila E? Once those ladies introduced the trend, everyone started wearing the look. The fashion industry's love affair with inner wear as outer wear has returned. Bustiers, bodysuits and corsets were all over the runways at the Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs spring shows.

A few celebrity style mavens are also loving the reinvention of the trend. Just recently, BV spotted Serena Williams looking really hot in a corset bodysuit at the Telemundo Women of Tomorrow Gala. She wore a black one-piece corset-shaped body suit with a fitted jacket and complemented the look with sparkling accessories. Although the tennis champ works out for hours to achieve her toned physique, this look works on her because the elements of her outfit are superbly balanced. Williams has great style, without a doubt.

The key to a well-styled outfit is knowing your body shape, playing up your assets and balancing the look overall with all the right elements. On some, form-fitting clothing can look unappealing because of the lack of harmony among different elements of the outfit. Here are a few helpful tips on how to wear the latest lingerie-inspired look. During your next night out on the town, shine like a Hollywood starlet with these simple rules.

Curves Ahead

Tips: Whether it's hips or a large backside, selecting jeans to accent this highly desired physique can sometimes be a challenging feat. For starters, boot-cut jeans are a definite go, for curvy shapes. But also consider a more lean cut, tapered leg jean for a more balanced appearance. Straight leg jeans make apple and pear shapes appear leaner.
Try: The French Connection's Emily Jean ($148, frenchconnection.com). The narrow boot-cut jean has more of a straight fit. Or if you can't make that splurge right now, try the Gap's Real Straight Indigo Jean ($69, gap.com).
