A few weeks back, I caught up with the sexy, sophiscated and queen of effortless style, Gabrielle Union, to talk a bit about staying cool in the summer heat, YSL shoes and fabulosity.

Any fashionista worth her weight in Prada knows that accessories can totally glam out an outfit--usually for half the cost of getting an entirely new wardrobe (excluding luxury bags and shoes.) What caught my eye this week, was the huge variety of really, different types of accessories and how the individual chose to rock the piece.

Last weekend, I had the wonderful pleasure of getting down to the one of the hottest fashion and cultural destinations in Brooklyn---Harriet's Alter Ego Boutique. This boutique is not only home to some of the flyest indie labels in the city, but they also count Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def and Dead Prez as some of their celebrity friends who constantly rock their threads.

Last night I had the wonderful pleasure of checking out the launch of Kimora Lee Simmon's new junior girls line Fabulosity sold exclusively at JC Penny's. Let me just tell you that this affordable and stylish line would have been the answer to my teenage fashion prayers back in the day.

What fashionista doesn't love a great bag? I mean honestly, there is a bag for every occasion am I right? Kicking it with the girls, dining with the boy, the power lunch purse, the family reunion bag, the class reunion bag..bags hold more than our things..they are often an indicator to our social status and our mood.

As the weather heats up here in North America, fashionistas are rocking some serious footwear. For the past few weeks I've taken stock of the latest looks in summer shoes, from the oh so fab gladiator to the neon slingback pump to retro looks like the moccasin and the saddle shoe..summer style is in serious effect. The other night I was invited down by Toyota and Essence to the launch party for their new online reality show called If Looks Could Kill, which basically takes you through an interactive (you get to choose what happens next) episodic movie where high fashion meets espionage, it's quite unique and lots of fun. That night we were graced with a live performance by Keyshia Cole and a fashion show with Alexis Phifer's GHITA's Spring '08 collection (and just in case your memory is super short, she's Kanye West's ex).
